In my opinion, two angles here:

1) For someone to manipulate a user's off-platform reputation for a short-term gain feels a little "far-fetched".

2) Real-world reputation per se is far from the only factor at play here. Creator coin prices aren't behaving in entirely rational way, as you'd expect from demand versus supply and stock market-like dynamics. This is only one part of the picture.
